1. About these terms

These terms govern your use of cakesafterdark.com and any orders you place with Cakes After Dark, LLC (the "Bakery", "we", "us"). By placing an order or creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

2. The bakery & the platform

This site is operated by Cakes After Dark, LLC as a tenant of the Multraverse platform. Multraverse provides hosting, payment routing, SMS and email delivery, and related infrastructure on our behalf.

Your contract for cakes, deposits, and delivery is with the Bakery — not with Multraverse. The platform terms that govern Multraverse itself are published at multraverse.ai/terms.

3. Ordering, quotes & deposits

Custom orders typically begin with a request through our order form or a quote we send you. A non-refundable deposit (usually 50%) holds your date on the calendar. The remaining balance is due before pickup or delivery unless we agree otherwise in writing.

Quotes are valid for 14 days unless they list a different expiration. Final designs may vary slightly from mockups — handmade cakes are not identical copies.

4. Cancellations & changes

Changes to design, flavors, or size may be possible up to 7 days before the event, subject to availability. Cancellations more than 14 days before the event may receive a refund of any amounts paid above the deposit. Cancellations within 14 days of the event are not refundable because ingredients and labor are already committed.

5. Allergens & food safety

Our kitchen handles wheat, dairy, eggs, soy, and tree nuts. We are not a certified allergen-free facility. If you or a guest has a serious allergy, tell us before ordering — we can usually accommodate, but we cannot guarantee zero cross-contact. Cakes should be refrigerated and consumed within 3 days of pickup unless we tell you otherwise.

6. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe through the Multraverse platform. We never see or store your full card number. Refunds (when owed under section 4) are returned to the original payment method.

7. SMS & email

When you opt in to order updates by text, we send messages about your order through Twilio (via Multraverse). Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe; reply HELP for help. Standard message and data rates may apply. Email receipts and order updates are sent through Resend (via Multraverse).

8. Intellectual property

Cake designs, mockups, and photographs we create remain our creative work. We may photograph finished cakes and use those photos in our portfolio, social media, or marketing. If you'd rather we didn't post photos of your specific cake, let us know in writing before the event.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim related to an order is capped at the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (lost profits, lost goodwill, ruined celebrations, etc.).

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the state where the Bakery is registered. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located there.
